5 ways to celebrate Toronto ravines
May 9, 2018
Warm weather has finally reached Toronto. What better way to celebrate spring than with the city’s ravines? On May 12-13, the City of Toronto will be leading Ravine Days events across the city, including at Evergreen Brick Works and in the Don River Valley Park.
It’s a great weekend to experience how amazing an asset the Valley – and all of Toronto ravines – are to our city.
Here are five ways you can show your love for ravines during Ravine Days:
Ravine Map Exhibit at Evergreen Brick Works
Did you know Toronto’s ravines stretch 307 km? That’s longer than a trip to Niagara Falls and back. This map exhibit on display at Evergreen Brick Works for May highlights the ravines in and around Toronto in all their glory.
Performance by Ansley Simpson
The City of Toronto is kicking off their second Ravine Days celebration with a performance by Anishinaabe singer-songwrter Ansley Simpson. Come out to the Saturday Farmers Market at Evergreen Brick Works on May 12 and enjoy the performance.
Guided Bike Ride in the Don Valley
Join our team for a guided ride through the Don Valley on May 13 at 11 am. Look at the signs of spring as the season begins to takeover the ravine! If you can’t make it for the guided ride, bring your own bike into the Valley or rent one from Bike Works.
Mindfulness Walk in the Valley
Join Outward Bound for a guided mindfulness walk through the Don Valley Brick Works Park. Switch gears from a busy state to a gentle, relaxed state in nature. Prepare to de-stress.
Discover the Valley through the Agents of Discovery app
Download the free Agents of Discovery app and explore the Don Valley Brick Works through a different lens. Become a Secret Agent and try out the augmented reality app! Be sure to collect your sticker on May 13th when you complete a mission.
However you choose to celebrate this upcoming weekend, we hope you’ll join us for Spring Into Summer, our ravine celebration as part of the City of Toronto’s Ravine Days.
